Spain’s Angel Matas is Dueling against France’s Thibault Giordan in our Top 32 Feature Match! Matas piloted his Inzektor Deck all the way to the Top 32, and Inzektors seemed to be relatively unpopular at the top tables this weekend. The surprise factor may give Matas the edge he needs to beat Giordan’s Dino Rabbit Deck.
Duel One
Giordan Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position. He Set 2 card to his back row before ending his turn.
Matas opened up with Effect Veiler, Dark Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, Inzektor Centipede, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Torrential Tribute. He Summoned Centipede and attacked Tour Guide, but Giordan flipped Dimensional Prison to banish the Centipede. Matas Set Torrential Tribute and Bottomless Trap Hole before entering his End Phase, and then lost Torrential Tribute to Giordan’s Mystical Space Typhoon.
Giordan Summoned Spirit Reaper and then switched Sangan into Attack Position. Matas used Effect Veiler to negate Reaper’s effect and then Spirit Reaper, Tour Guide, and Sangan attacked Matas directly. Giordan Set a card to his back row before passing.
Matas drew Inzektor Ladybug and activated Dark Hole to destroy Tour Guide, Sangan, and Reaper. Giordan added Rescue Rabbit from his Deck to his hand with Sangan’s effect. He Set Ladybug and Mystical Space Typhoon before passing.
Giordan Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls; but both were banished by Matas’s Bottomless Trap Hole.
Matas drew Monster Reborn next turn! He flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Giordan’s face-down Forbidden Lance and then used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Giordan’s Spirit Reaper in Attack Position. Giordan negated Reaper’s effect with Effect Veiler.
Giordan activated Dark Hole to clear the field.
Matas drew Gorz and passed.
Giordan Summoned Spirit Reaper and attacked; but Matas Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness! He had no cards left to discard from his hand.
Matas drew Inzektor Centipede and Summoned it; but Giordan banished the Centipede with Bottomless Trap Hole. Matas switched Gorz into Attack Position and attacked Spirit Reaper, dropping Giordan down to 5600 Life Points.
Giordan switched Reaper into Defense Position.
Matas Set a card to his back row.
Giordan Set a card to his back row.
Matas Summoned Effect Veiler in an attempt to perform a Synchro Summon, but Giordan cleared the field with Torrential Tribute!
Giordan Set a back row and passed.
Matas drew Inzektor Dragonfly and Summoned it! He activated its effect to Equip it with an Inzektor Ladybug, but Giordan flipped Book of Moon to put the Dragonfly face-down.
Giordan drew Pot of Avarice next turn! He sent 5 monsters back to his Deck and drew 2 cards. He Normal Summoned Sabersaurus; but Matas banished it with Bottomless Trap Hole.
Matas drew Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber next turn! He Flip Summoned Dragonfly and tried to use its effect to equip it with Ladybug; but Giordan used Effect Veiler. Next, Matas gave his Dragonfly Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber and attacked directly with his dragonfly. Giordan Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, along with an Emissary of Darkness Token!
Next turn, Giordan Normal Summoned Effect Veiler and Tuned it with his Emissary of Darkness Token to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon! He Set Soul Taker and destroyed it along with Matas’s Dragonfly by using Scrap Dragon’s effect. Then direct attacks from Scrap Dragon and Gorz wiped out Matas’s last 5400 Life Points!
France’s Thibault Giordan uses Gorz the Emissary of Darkness to seal a back-and-forth Duel! Matas will be going first in Duel 2!
Duel Two

Matas opened up with Pot of Duality, Inzektor Centipede, Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber, Dark Hole, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Solemn Warning.
This is Matas's opening hand in Duel 2.
He activated Pot of Duality to reveal Pot of Duality, Smashing Ground, and Chain Disappearance from the top of his Deck and chose to add the Duality to his hand. He shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, Matas Summoned Inzektor Centipede and equipped it with Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber. He Set Compulsory Evacuation Device and Solemn Warning before ending his turn.
This is Giordan's opening hand in Duel 2, before he drew a card for his first turn.
Giordan Set a monster and 2 cards to his back row.
Matas drew Mystical Space Typhoon and activated Pot of Duality. He added a Hornet from the top of his Deck to his hand before shuffling the other 2 revealed cards back into the Deck. He equipped Hornet to his Centipede and when Giordan activated Macro Cosmos, Matas activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it! Matas sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Giordan’s face-down Solemn Judgment and used Centipede’s effect to add Inzektor Centipede from his Deck to his hand. Then he Normal Summoned another Centipede and used its effect to give it a Hornet. He sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Giordan’s monster and add an Inzektor Dragonfly to his hand with Centipede’s effect. Giordan conceded, seeing no way out.
Angel Matas wins Duel 2 thanks to an early Inzektor Hornet! Thibault Giordan will be going first in the final Duel of the Match!
Duel Three
Matas
Giordan Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. He combined them to Xyz Summon Evolzar Laggia and then Set 3 cards to his back row.
Matas opened up with Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber, 2 Royal Decrees, Bottomless Trap Hole, Inzektor Hornet, and Inzektor Centipede. He Set the Hornet and 3 back rows and then ended his turn.
Giordan Set a monster and a back row. In his End Phase, Matas activated Royal Decree, and Giordan negated it with Laggia; but Matas flipped a second Decree, and Giordan couldn’t negate it.
Matas Summoned Inzektor Centipede and then Flip Summoned Inzektor Hornet. He combined both monsters to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines in Attack Position. He attacked Laggia, but Giordan used Book of Moon to put Zenmaines face-down.
Giordan Tributed his face-down Sangan and face-up Laggia on his next turn in order to Summon…
The DARK MAGICIAN!!!!
The Dark Magician makes his appearance in the Top 32 of the European Championship!
The crowd went wild, but the Duel continued!
Giordan searched his Deck for Tour Guide to add to his hand with the effect of Sangan and then ended his turn.
Matas Flip Summoned Zenmaines and attacked the Dark Magician; but Giordan used Forbidden Chalice on Zenmaines, and the Dark Magician took it down in battle! Matas Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly next, and used its effect to equip it with a Hornet. He sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Dark Magician, and used Dragonfly’s effect to Special Summon Centipede. Next, he equipped Centipede with Hornet, and sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Starlight Road. He used Centipede’s effect to grab Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber from his Deck. He equipped his Dragonfly with 2 Swords and passed.
Giordan Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect. Matas used Maxx “C”, and when Giordan Special Summoned another Tour Guide, Matas drew a card. Giordan Xyz Summoned Leviair, giving Matas another card with Maxx “C”, and then Giordan detached an Xyz Material to try to activate Leviair’s effect; but Matas used Effect Veiler to negate Leviair’s effect! Giordan used Monster Reborn next, and Special Summoned Sangan from his Graveyard, allowing Matas to draw another card. Giordan attacked Matas’s Centipede with Sangan and added an Effect Veiler to his hand when his Sangan was destroyed in the battle. Leviair attacked and destroyed Centipede next.
Matas Summoned Inzektor Ladybug next turn and equipped it with Inzektor Giga-Mantis. Ladybug and Dragonfly attacked directly, dropping Giordan down to 2200 Life Points.
Giordan drew Rescue Rabbit and Summoned it, but Matas used Effect Veiler to negate its effect! Giordan offered the handshake, knowing he was beat.
Angel Matas is moving on the Top 16 with Inzektors, but Thibault Giordan gained a bunch of fans by Tribute Summoning the Dark Magician!
Duel One
