    If Forbidden Garment is chained to Lancer's effect to equip the removed from play monsters onto itself, making it immune to targeting, Lancer's effect will still activate and resolve, since no spell cards are actually activated and targeting Lancer, and the equip cards on Lancer remain equipped by its own effect, and not by game mechanics of regular equip spell cards.
