If a player declares an attack on his opponent (either directly or on a Ghostrick monster) and that opponent activates something as a response to that attack, during the "Respond to the attack" window, then Ghostrick Lantern can no longer be activated. This is because Lantern (as well as Battle Fader) is a Trigger effect that needs to be directly activated after the declaration of the attack. Trigger effects are Spell Speed 1 (similar to how Number 39: Utopia functions) and chaining them to a Spell Speed 2 effect like a Quick effect or a Trap card is impossible.
